SAFEGUARDING

The Methodist Church is proud of its commitment to Creating Safer Space, and believes in God’s genuine loving concern for all people and states that “We are shown a supreme example of God’s love by Jesus, who expressed a particular concern and love for the poor, the vulnerable and the dispossessed. In the Gospels, children and vulnerable people are people that Jesus especially singles out as loved by God and who should therefore be defended from people who would otherwise exploit them.”

Training:

Therefore, we are committed to training our people and the aim of our Module A session is... “To enable participants to deal confidently and appropriately in safeguarding and in promoting the welfare of children and young people in the church context.”

The list of those postholders who the Methodist Church has agreed must attend the training is here (Click)

You might have great experience of Safeguarding in your work, please do still attend one of these sessions; to quote a leader in the education system “It has been really helpful coming to this session as it has helped me to apply my knowledge to Church; thank you.”

There are trained trainers in all Circuits, and the Module A training is being rolled out comprehensively from autumn 2010. (For list of dates and venues, click here) Please note that places must be booked in advance.
